Theory of a Light Sleeper
Okay, I'm a really light sleeper (if there's anything like that). So I had a free day today and since its about two days to my deadline which happens to be a free day, I decided to call up my supervisor who asked me to see him tomorrow. Being the really lazy bone that I am, I decided to see movies on my laptop and just lounge in all day. I didn't have trouble finding food as my sweet friend Tomisin already prepared brunch. I had a sumptuous meal and went back to bed.
My cute little friend (whom I just met) came by and we had a long talk about how her GES exam went and her new modelling contract. What a sharp fella she is. As le manager, I felt real proud. To cut my very long story short, I retired to bed around 8pm (GMT +1) only for my sleep to be interrupted by a trio of unrepentant prayer warriors.
As the "light sleeper" that I am, my sleep was rudely cut short with screeching sounds from my balcony. What was initially frightening turned out to be very annoying as I realized a group of "Christian sisters" out there have decided to haunt myself and a host of others with their deafening voices.
Then the Theory of Conflicts of Rights came to mind. In as much as they've got the rights to talk to their Maker, I also have the freaking rights to sleep in a silent and serene environment. Of all locations, these people decided to bring their crusade to the front of a block that accommodates a whooping percentage of finalists in my hostel. Haba!!! Did the ones with the good sense not use it? Or did they all have the bearings of their brains tossed towards the same direction? Or are they basically inconsiderate or maybe just unperturbed by the level of nuisance they are creating?
When a bill was passed as to the ban of religious activities in my hostel, being the semi-fanatic that I am, I was part of those who raised eyebrows and wagged tongues as to how these activities affected anybody. But seriously,I'm beginning to reason along with those who passed it.
I mean, who starts prayers in front of A block around 10pm and still hasn't stopped at 11:06pm when we have just two weeks to exams? In my opinion, I think the theory of conflicting rights won't even exist if everyone had a vein of consideration in them.
I won't like to be tagged as the demonized daughter of a church Elder, so rather than speak up, I'd have to swallow this hard, big, bitter and awfully unpalatable pill. But my question is, how many others can?
